MISSION: Alert, Focused and Ready
Recently I was visiting with my sister-in-law, Linda, at her home in Edisto. As I was sitting there watching the ocean I noticed to my left, sitting on top of the neighbor’s rooftop, a large hawk. It seemed odd to me as you typically see pelicans and seagulls at the ocean. As I watched him patiently sitting and seemingly resting he suddenly, with full determination and focus, flew straight past me toward his “mission” (dinner) at the water’s edge.
In my Significant Woman group this past week we were discussing our mission. We began to talk about how God is continually at work all around us. Understanding and identifying our mission helps us know our part in His overall mission.
Is. 40:31 says: “They that wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up on wings like eagles, they will run and not get weary, they will walk and not faint”.
OUR STRENGTH IS RENEWED AS WE WAIT ON THE LORD.
When we know our mission, we can wait on the Lord, renewing our strength in Him, watching as He moves all around us. When He brings our mission across our path (in our sight) we recognize it and we are ready. Just as the hawk was watching….when he spotted his target he was alert and ready to move toward it with complete focus, zeal and strength.
“Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors.” Prov 8:34
Father…we pray now that we will learn to watch and listen. To be alert and aware of Your mission for our lives. Keep us focused on You and not the busyness of each day. We want to be ready when you bring our mission. Thank You, Father, for your unfailing love for us.
